Pursuant to Circuit Court of Cook County Rule 10.7(ll), a judge will appoint a licensed attorney as guardian ad litem to represent a prospective adoptee under the age of 18 and to act in his or her best interest. The GAL reviews the case and submits a report to the court on whether the adoption is appropriate.
