Circuit Court of Cook County will remain open for business on Tuesday, but participants are encouraged to appear remotely if possible

Due to the extremely cold weather predicted for Tuesday, January 16 that may adversely impact the health and safety of court personnel and litigants, the Circuit Court of Cook County is encouraging participants to attend court remotely, if possible, said Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans.

Juveniles and adults who are in custody and scheduled for initial appearances or detention hearings will be brought to court by law enforcement personnel, and will appear as scheduled. Proceedings for emergency protective orders also be will be held according to their usual schedules and in their scheduled locations.

However, for all other civil and criminal proceedings, both judges and litigants are encouraged to participate remotely using video conference or Zoom. To obtain Zoom information, please go to www.cookcountycourt.org or contact the Clerk of Circuit Court's Customer Service Call Center at 312-603-5030.

In those cases where participation remotely or in person are not possible, cases will be continued. Warrants will not be issued, and cases will not be defaulted or dismissed. The Clerk of the Circuit Court will contact participants to inform them of new court dates.
