Court Programs and Services

The Circuit Court of Cook County administers many volunteer activities which include the following:

visiting a minor being held in detention
becoming a mentor to a minor under court supervision
becoming a member of a mentor team that works with a group of minors under court supervision
interacting with children visiting the Children's Advocacy Room located at juvenile court while their parents or guardians attend court proceedings
becoming a mentor to an adult on probation
assisting in Adult Probation Department operations to gain experience of and knowledge about the criminal justice system
Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older and be extremely sensitive to issues of confidentiality. All applicants are subject to an interview and criminal background check. If you are interested in volunteering with minors, call The Mentoring Network at (312) 433-6685 or (312) 433-6628. If you are interested in volunteering with adults, call the Adult Probation Department at (312) 603-0270.
