GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER: 2019-02 Rescheduling, Weather Emergency

On the basis of current, active weather alerts by the National Weather Service that are reliably
predicting extreme and dangerous wind chill effects in Cook County during the cowi's regular
business hours on January 30 and 31, 2019,

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that all courthouses and related operations of the circuit court of
Cook County, except the Pretrial Division (formerly known as Central Bond Court) at the
George N. Leighton Courthouse, 2650 S. California Ave., Chicago, ("Pretrial Division") and the
Juvenile Justice Division, 1100 S. Hamilton Ave., Chicago, shall be closed for business on
Wednesday and Thursday, January 30-31, 2019;

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that, unless otherwise ordered by the judge presiding, all civil
cases in all Divisions and Municipal Districts are rescheduled and continued until the same times
and in the same courtrooms on February 6 and 7, 2019, respectively; if otherwise scheduled by
the judge presiding, the parties shall be notified of the date and time of their next court
appearance date by the circuit clerk;

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that, unless otherwise specified below, all traffic and criminal
cases scheduled for court appearances on January 3 0 and 31, 2019, are rescheduled and
continued until the same times and in the same courtrooms as follows:

INITIAL BAIL HEARINGS
1. Initial bail hearings in all criminal and traffic cases and all bail hearings on warrants and
body attachments in all cases in all Divisions and Municipal Districts shall be heard at the
Pretrial Division;

TRAFFIC CASES
2. All cases in all Municipal Districts in which defendants are released on bail are
rescheduled and continued until the next key date, and the defendants shall be notified of
the date and time of their next court appearance date by the circuit clerk.

3. All cases in all Districts in which defendants are in the custody of the Cook County
Department of Corrections or the Illinois Department of Corrections are rescheduled and
continued w1til the same times and in the same courtrooms on Friday, February 1, 2019.

CRIMINAL DIVISION
4. All cases, including those pending in all Municipal Districts, in which defendants are in
the custody of the Cook County Department of Corrections or the Illinois Department of
Corrections are rescheduled and continued until Friday, February 1, 2019.

5. All cases in all Districts of defendants released on bail shall be rescheduled by the judge
presiding, and the defendants shall be notified of the date and time of their next court
appearance date by the circuit clerk.

PRETRIAL DIVISION and FIRST MUNICIPAL DISTRICT (City of Chicago)
6. All misdemeanor cases in a First Municipal District preliminary hearing courtroom in
which defendants are in the custody of the Cook County Department of Corrections are
continued until Friday, February 1, 2019.

7. All cases in Branches 2, 3, 66, and 98 in which defendants are in the custody of the Cook
County Department of Corrections will be heard at 12:30 p.m., on Wednesday and
Thursday, January 30 and 31, 2019.

8. All cases in Branches 2, 3, 66, and 98 of defendants released on bail shall be rescheduled
and continued until the same times and in the same courtrooms on February 6 and 7,
2019, respectively.

9. All misdemeanor, ordinance, or traffic cases of defendants released on bail are hereby
continued until the next key date, and the defendants shall be notified of the date and time
of their next court appearance date by the circuit clerk.

MUNICIPAL DISTRICTS 2-6 (All Suburban Districts)
10. All traffic, misdemeanor, preliminary hearing, and felony cases of defendants in the
custody of the Cook County Department of Corrections are continued until Friday,
February 1, 2019.

11. All preliminary hearing cases of defendants released on bail are rescheduled and
continued until the same times and in the same courtrooms on February 6 and 7, 2019,
respectively.

12. All ordinance, misdemeanor and traffic cases in which defendants are released on bail are
rescheduled and continued until the next key date, and the defendants shall be notified of
the date and time of their next court appearance date by the circuit clerk.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DIVISION
13. All cases in Branch 64 and all misdemeanor cases in courtrooms located at 555 West
Harrison Street, Chicago, in which defendants are in the custody of the Cook County
Department of Corrections are continued until Friday, February 1, 2019.

14. All civil cases and all misdemeanor cases in which defendants are released on bail are
rescheduled and continued until the same times and in the same courtrooms on February
6 and 7, 2019, respectively.

15. All orders of protection, stalking no contact orders, civil no contact orders, firearms
restraining orders, and protective orders scheduled to expire on January 30 or 31 are
extended until February 6 and 7, 2019, respectively.

JUVENILE JUSTICE DIVISION
16. All initial detention hearings shall be heard at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday,
January 30 and 31, 2019.

17. All cases of respondents in secured custody, including those in custody at the Juvenile
Temporary Detention Center, are rescheduled and continued until Friday, February 1,
2019.

18. All respondents released on bail are rescheduled and continued until the same times and
in the same courtrooms on February 6 and 7, 2019, respectively.

CHILD PROTECTION DIVISION
19. All cases are rescheduled and continued until the same times and in the same courtrooms
on February 6 and 7, 2019, respectively.
